Growth and change can be invigorating, especially when there are others to share in the experiences, to offer their understanding and support, to help you know you are not alone with how you feel – in fact, there are many who are trying to work through fear, uncertainty, confusion, self doubt, the past, the present, healing, guilt as well as attempting to identify who they really are, their strengths, gifts, talents and abilities, their passions and unique and special qualities that make them who they are. Workshops
“A Peaceful Way” facilitates one and two day workshops. These events are filled with self-exploration, sharing, creating and learning. You will find an environment filled with warmth, respect and support. There is no judgment - only acknowledgment and understanding. We will have many fascinating, sometimes challenging, yet empowering and inspirational experiences. The purpose is for each person to discover more about themselves on a deeper level and to become further aware of who their true and authentic being is. There are many outside influences that have an impact on how we each view the world and ourselves. Some of these are not true and accurate definitions of the truth of who we are, what we believe and how we want to see and create ourselves and our lives. In the workshops we explore this false self and how it developed, seeing more clearly the true self, our talents, special gifts and our unique intrinsic essence. We explore our self-imposed limitations, expectations, self-judgments and identify the blocks that may prevent our moving forward and accomplishing our goals and desires. The workshop experiences helps us consciously expand beyond these restricted walls, letting our being take its place as the powerful and remarkable person we are - recognizing the true extent of our abilities and possibilities. We explore the power of our mind and spirit and learn how to express it out in our lives. Once we become connected with that place inside we are forever united with the life and power within us. Our spirit will embrace its never-ending quest to fulfill itself in perfection out in the world.
Themes of the workshops include couple groups, women’s self empowerment groups as well as men’s groups that focus on challenging issues unique to males in our culture. In addition, there are workshops to focus on positive and healthy ways to handle various challenging issues and experiences of life, such as anxiety, anger management, emotional stress, losses and transitions, fear and different addictive behavior. These workshops, whatever the specific theme, provide you with the tools to deal with life.
Retreats
The Retreats are similar to the one and two day workshops but last 5 days. They are a wonderful opportunity to experience some important time away from daily life, time to be in a restful, nurturing and supportive environment. Having a few days allows you to deeply relax your body, mind and spirit. The peaceful, positive energies around you help you feel more balanced, centered and connected. The retreats are held in comfortable, safe, beautiful and peaceful surroundings. The locations vary from places in the mountains, the desert or near the ocean and are planned with consideration to accessibility, expense and travel.
I utilize various cross-cultural philosophies as a means to help you work through the many different issues we explore. Many different indigenous cultures have wonderful ways to successfully move through and understand fear, personal trauma, life’s changes and other difficult
challenges of life. The exercises and various techniques used during the retreat are extremely powerful to help in the recognition of personal blocks - the places we feel “stuck” such as in grief, loss and the process of letting go. The experiences of self-exploration and growth can be extremely powerful when interacting with nature. Different areas of the natural world are often inspiring and comforting and allow for freedom of the heart and spirit to contemplate deeper thoughts and feelings. Your individual relationship with nature can be an incredible way to activate a stronger connection to your inner self. These experiences are amazingly effective in connecting head and heart. Each retreat has a ‘theme’ as a general goal and focus, however, the objective of all retreats is to help each person discover a stronger and clearer sense of self and confidence in one’s self and abilities to deal with your lives in a positive, powerful and effective way.
Throughout the retreat there are times for peaceful inner reflection and meditation, opportunities to interact with others in very relaxed and simple ways. You learn self-hypnosis, self-relaxation, anti-stress and anxiety techniques and visualization. There are times of discussion and sharing, group activities, understanding and support, interesting and enjoyable exercises and activities. The experiences through the retreat stimulate and “awaken” areas of your being that may have been asleep or inactive in daily life. These thoughts and feelings may not have had an outlet for expression or it may have been difficult to find the support and understanding you have needed. The time on retreat is perfect for giving yourself time, attention and support for these. During A Peaceful Way Retreats, the spirit awakens to an environment of mutual support and safety with the greatest honor for each person, their individual and unique nature and for what they bring forth.
Self-empowerment Groups
The Self-Empowerment Groups stimulate personal inspiration, passion, motivation, clarity, positive attitudes and a deepening sense of self. This is done through various active participation methods such as; Meditation, Body movement, Dance, Journaling, Guided Imagery, Anger Work and more. These help stimulate the relationship with the self. Sometimes, in life, you may feel disconnected from the person you are, from how you really feel and think, what you truly want, what brings you joy and passion and what your gifts and abilities are. You may feel a loss of connection withy your own experiences. You may feel disconnected from others. This is a time when you are not empowered in your lives and often feel drained, ‘stuck’, lost, frustrated or simply very ‘ready’ to change but do not know exactly what to do. These empowerment groups provide what will help you bring that sense of personal power back into your life. These exercises vigorously promote the individual’s ability to tune into themselves on the conscious and subconscious levels. You develop a clear and strong ‘knowing’ of yourself. If you do not re-connect on a deep level with yourselves, know who you are and what you want and think – your true identity, you will find it is more and more difficult to handle the things in life you need to. It is more likely to drop back into the old patterns of thinking and behavior. These groups help you know who you are so you can fully engage yourself in the expression of that identity.
Women’s and Men’s Support Groups
There are specific issues women, as well as men commonly experience. There are unique perspectives and approaches to the view of life’s experiences and it is critical to have the opportunity to share with those who understand very clearly what you are feeling, what you are experiencing. Each gender can have very unique ways of thinking, reacting, resolving and perceiving. Each gender can have very different influences and conditioning. There may be quite different expectations. Being around others of your own gender who understand and have compassion for what you are going through is powerful. It is extremely effective and powerful to heal, learn and grow within one’s own gender. Not only do you experience others who are there for you, who listen and care, but you also can hear how others have felt and been through something very similar. They may share how they handled the challenges and what they did to help them through. You can step back and see more clearly your situations in life and how you have arrived there. This also brings an opportunity for women and men to begin to develop trust and a sense of unity, support and honesty with others of their own gender.
I have heard so many share their stories of painful separations and betrayal existing within the individual genders and the many thoughts and feelings about the influences of our culture and history. The support groups are extremely effective in helping men and women understand more of how they feel and where it comes from. These groups are a safe and supportive environment to explore patterns of thinking and behavior, to heal wounds and create a new reality of unification of women and of men. This is a setting where you will not be judged, criticized or pressured. You will find absolute respect and honor for who you are and what you feel and think.
